Peer Review Process
Journal of Engineering Innovation in Civil Systems (JEICS) applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure objectivity and fairness in the evaluation process.
Each submitted manuscript undergoes an initial evaluation by the editor and is then reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise relevant to civil engineering and engineering systems. The review process is conducted systematically and objectively to ensure the scientific quality of the manuscript.
The overall review process is targeted to be completed within a maximum of 30 days, with each reviewer expected to complete their evaluation within 10 working days. If a reviewer is unable to meet the deadline, the editor will assign a replacement reviewer.
During the review process, manuscripts are evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Consistency between the title, abstract, introduction, methodology, results, and conclusion
- Novelty and scientific contribution
- Relevance and impact within the journal’s scope
- Quality and adequacy of references
Stages of the Review Process
1. Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online system (OJS).
2. Initial Editorial Evaluation (Pre-check)
The editor conducts an initial screening to assess:
- Alignment with the journal’s focus and scope
- Completeness of the manuscript
- Compliance with the journal template
- Initial plagiarism screening
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.
3. Peer Review Process (Double-Blind Review)
The manuscript is sent to at least two reviewers for evaluation based on scientific quality, originality, and clarity of presentation.
4. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions:
- Accepted without revision
- Accepted with minor revisions
- Accepted with major revisions
- Rejected
5. Revision by Authors
Authors are required to revise the manuscript according to reviewers’ and editor’s comments.
6. Production
Accepted manuscripts proceed to:
- Copyediting
- Layout editing
- Proofreading
7. Publication
The final article is published online according to the journal’s publication schedule.
Publication Decision Policy
The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance rests with the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account the recommendations of reviewers and the editorial board. The order of publication is determined based on the acceptance date and consideration of balanced geographical distribution of authors.
Additional Notes
- All processes are conducted in a confidential and professional manner
- Authors will receive notifications at each stage of the review process
- Editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not align with the journal’s scope or fail to meet scientific quality standards
